Registration Specialist
General Summary
Greet and perform registration process for visitors and patients.

Must not gossip or create in anyway a negative work environment. Must demonstrate honesty and integrity in every area of leading.
Job Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Other: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to review detailed data and make prompt judgments based on that data. Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, interruptions and high work volume. Professional appearance. Ability to multi-task efficiently.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Education/Experience
Experience: Two years of work experience in similar job or work environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Greet, monitor, and direct patients and visitors.
  • Perform patient registration process and update demographic information within multiple systems.
  • Act as a supportive member to the reimbursement team through the collection of co-pays, balances, treatment co-pays and balancing of cash drawer.
  • Manage and direct disability and FMLA forms through the office.
Communicate and interact with peers and other departments in a manner that is viewed as having a positive effect on patient services and CHCWM staff morale. Interact effectively with patients/family members and demonstrate sensitivity in regards to cultural diversity, age specific needs and confidentiality.
Function as a team member by expanding responsibilities as directed by management to facilitate optimal workflow within the cancer center.
This employee has access to medical records daily. This includes referencing portions of the medical record necessary to perform his/her job. These include the Chart/Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and the Electronic Billing System (EBS).
Work Environment
Very fast-paced and ever changing office environment. Demanding deadlines and time frames. Very detailed and challenging work. Constant demand for updating knowledge. Able to transport items weighing less than 20 pounds 5% of the time; 80% of time sitting at computer, 20% walking/moving.
